Volunteer Placement Counsellor (Working towards Qualification - Dorchester Based)

STARS Dorset's counselling service provides one to one, trauma-informed counselling, free of charge, for anyone of any age or gender who lives, works or studies in Dorset and has experienced any form of sexual violence at anytime in their life.

We ask that you aim to commit to volunteering with STARS Dorset for a minimum of 24 months. We provide in-house fortnightly group supervision and Continued Personal Development (CPD) opportunities.

Full training and support is provided. All 6 Training dates must be attended. The fee for training is estimated to be £200 (payment plans are available on request). The Training dates are as follows: Sat 1st March 9:30 AM – 4 PM, Sat 8th March 9:30 AM – 4 PM, Sat 22nd March 9:30 AM – 4 PM, Sat 29th March 9:30 AM – 4 PM, Sat 26th April 9:30 AM – 4 PM and Sat 10th May 9:30 - 4 PM.

All Volunteer Counsellors must cover the cost of an enhanced a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, must be a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), or equivalent, and have their own insurance. Two references, one academic, must also be provided.
